Restoring the Approach with Traditional Materials
The formal driveway of this beautiful property was in need of some attention. We were tasked with widening the driveway and constructing a new curving Ham stone retaining wall to follow the natural sweep of the drive.
Once the wall was in place, the surrounding lawns could be levelled to meet it cleanly. The driveway surface was built up using a granular sub-base, a compacted self-binding hoggin layer (to reflect the site’s historic character), and finished with a loose 10–20mm gravel.
